Sergey Tarasov, St. Petersburg Vice-Governor, becomes co-chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Rally

"St. Petersburg - Northern Forest" International Baja is supported by St. Petersburg city authorities. The Organizing Committee of the competition invited St. Petersburg Vice-Governor Sergey Tarasov to take the position of its co-chairman, and Mr. Tarasov accepted the invitation.

Besides the Northern Capital vice-governor, the city Sporting Committee's chairman Vyacheslav Chazov and deputy chairman Mikhail Gusakov also joined the Organizing Committee.

Since November 2003 is St. Petersburg's Vice-Governor responsible for city scientific, educational, cultural, media, youth and sporting policies.

Formerly was three times (1994-2002) elected to the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly, in 2000 - 2003 acted as its Chairman, in 2000-2001 also as the member of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

In 1982 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Shipbuilding then until 1986 was employed in komsomol bodies. Since 1986 he acted as first deputy director general of "LenExpo" exibition complex, in 1989-1998 was at the head of several companies specialized in construction and exhibition activities.

Born in 1959. He is married and has two daughters and a son. Hobbies - sailing and tennis.
